The Eureka Springs Historical Museum is excited to announce our new TIME TRAVEL event for this year:
The 1973 Longhair Invasion!
LAST YEAR, we traveled back to 1898 for the infamous Eureka Springs Jailbreak and the ensuing "Jailbird Ball". Our guests were treated to an unforgettable evening of period music and entertainment, mugshots, a silent auction of items from the "evidence room", an immersive jailbreak experience, social dancing, and some of the best "prison food" ever served on this side of the Mississippi.
THIS YEAR, we're getting into a different groove! On the evening of August 8, 2025, we're breaking out the bell-bottoms, tie-dye, and longhair fashions as we pay tribute to the Eureka Springs of 1973 and the "Longhair Invasion" of back-to-the-land artists, musicians, and free-thinkers that turned our town into an original Ozark hippie haven.
*******************************
The Longhair Invasion – WHAT is it?
To pay tribute to this unique time in our town's history, the Eureka Springs Historical Museum will be hosting the Longhair Invasion fundraiser in the summer of 2025. This is the second in a series of “Time Travel” themed interactive events created by the museum. The Longhair Invasion will feature 1973 music and entertainment, immersive roleplay activities, social dancing, food, and more!
*******************************
WHEN is it?
The event takes place on the evening of Friday, August 8, 2025 from 5pm to 10pm.
*******************************
WHERE is it?
The event is being hosted at the Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center, located behind the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks at 207 W. Van Buren in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, just off of Highway 62. Free parking is available on-site.
*******************************
What to WEAR?
This is a costumed event, with 1973 themed attire being encouraged for all guests. Please be creative and have fun with your costumes!

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10 FROM 6:15 AM - 8 AM
Sunday Sunrise Coffee Ride
Park in the South Lot: (People will be arriving at the Church for the early service about the time we're returning so let's be respectful and let them park closest to the Worship Center. It's going to be hot so we're being smart... Let's ride in the cool of the morning. Wheels Hot at 6:15 a.m.. Don't call or text saying that you're running 2 minutes late due to traffic, because we know that's not happening on a Sunday morning.
This week our route will be 8-10ish miles w/ a brief stop for a small coffee along the way. Expect a few "golden hour" photo stops. Pace is 12-13 mph. (Just a little snappier than our usual pace has been) All types of bikes, all types of people welcome.
This ride is FREE thanks to volunteer leads and sweeps courtesy the Bentonville Church of Christ and Springdale Bike Club. We recommend hydration, basic bike repair kit, blinky lights, and helmet.
(Yes, we already know this early for some of us, and you're missing out! Yes, we know some of you will be pushing to get home and get cleaned up for the second service! Let's step out of comfort zones, hustle up, and share a sunrise together. It's okay of we show up without our hair dried and make-up perfect. Jesus still loves me... the Bible tells me so.)
