SATURDAY, MARCH 7 FROM 8 AM - 2 PM
Rough Hollow Bushwhack
Long Pool Road entrance at Highway 164 next to Owens Cem.
We discovered this area (south of Long Pool Rec. Area) way back in 2012 and were able to name all the waterfalls in the area. We even named one after our own David Trigg....Trigg Falls. Hopefully the predicted rain this week will get the waterfalls flowing and it is about time. The main attraction is of course Rough Falls. All these waterfalls now appear in Tim Ernst's newest waterfall guidebook. The best way to enjoy this area is to wear your oldest hiking boots and plan to get your feet wet. There will be some steep climbs and some sit down and slide areas, just so you know. This is only a 2-mile hike, rated moderate/difficult. There are other waterfalls in the area, if we decide to do more. We will end our waterfalling at the Rough Hollow Slots. We have been known, in the past, to ride down the slots! We will meet at Pleasant View Park, located 1-mile north of I-40 at Russellville, on Highway 7 at 8:00 AM or you can meet us at the entrance road to Long Pool Rec. Area at Highway 164, at Owens Cemetery, at 8:30 AM. Bring your daypack, lunch and old shoes. Let us know you are coming and where you will meet us.
