The last weekend before school starts back is here, and Arkansas is packed with things to do from fair week in Clarksville and Jasper to a circus under the big top, monster trucks in Springdale, and a mural festival in West Memphis. We've rounded up our favorites from around the state to help you make the most of it.

Expect highs in the triple digits all weekend, with no rain in sight! But, no worries, we have plenty of indoor options as well! It’s a great weekend to get outside before the school bell rings again!

Arkansas Film Incentive Roundtable

Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts

Every production that shoots in Arkansas hires local crew, books local hotels, and spends real money with Arkansas businesses. The state's film incentive is what decides whether those productions come here or head to Oklahoma, Georgia, and Texas instead. This roundtable brings Sen. Tucker, Sen. Dismang, and Rep. McCullough into direct conversation about where the program stands today and what it will take to keep Arkansas competitive.

A 2025 state-funded study found that Arkansas film incentives return $3.62 in economic activity for every public dollar spent, and that the program needs a higher cap and a stronger structure to keep pace with states already pulling productions across their borders. Hear it straight from the lawmakers writing the policy, ask the questions that matter to your work, and help build the case for a film industry that stays and grows right here.

Get ready for an 80's rewind with some of the greatest hits of the MTV era. Break out the Aquanet and the Member's Only!

The music team that brings you On a Winter's Night is switching things up this year. On a Summer's Night will be presented Friday, August 14th at 7 PM. It will be held at the Center for the Arts, 2209 South Knoxville Avenue in Russellville AR. This event is the yearly fundraiser for Arkansas Center for Music Education (ACME), a local 501c3 non-profit that offers music performance opportunites for the community, including opportunities for the special needs community. Members of several of ACME's performance groups, Russellville Community Band, the Community Festival Chorale and Heartstrings (special needs choir) will participate in this event.

This year we will be joined by River Valley native, Tom Yankton, who will be our guest artist. Tom now lives in San Antonio and performs with his band as well as Generation Radio. Tom has toured as a musician and singer with country supergroup, Rascal Flatts. He has also opened for Chicago, Luke Bryan, and Christina Aguilara as well as performing on The Today Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

This event is proudly sponsored by Blackstone honoring the legacy of James Primm, and Sue Barton. Arkansas Center for Music Education serves Pope, Johnson, and Yell counties.

Sign up early for this water adventure. We'll boat out to the main river channel and snorkel along the shoreline in search of fish, rocks, plants and more. Masks and snorkels are provided, but feel free to bring your own equipment. Life jackets are provided and are required during your snorkeling adventure. Join park staff and the Northwest Arkansas Astronomical Society for a program on the night sky. The park has several telescopes that will be set up for everyone to use including a large 14-inch mirror telescope. You may want to bring a chair or blanket to sit down while the presenters get the scopes set to the next object or talk about what we are seeing. This program will last about an hour but you are welcome to come and go. This program is weather dependent. You can call the park office at 479-559-2593 for any questions or to check on the weather.

Whether your crew wants to run through the water, play at the park, or simply enjoy conversation in the shade, there will be plenty of space to enjoy the day at your own pace.

Bring towels, sunscreen, water, snacks, and anything else that helps you stay comfortable outdoors during the summer weather.

As always, this will be a casual, welcoming gathering with room for connection, play, and community.

Pulled back into their separate worlds, the pair must navigate distance, doubts, and their own hilariously messy insecurities to determine whether love can truly go the distance.

TIME & LOCATION UPDATE: The art market will be located on the south end of the A Street Promenade from 5–8 PM, giving you an extra hour to meet the artists and shop their work. The jazz performance will be played at the Pavilion at Dave Peel Park from 6–8 PM.

Sunset Sundays is a live outdoor jazz and art series, designed to bring friends and neighbors together to relax, unwind, and enjoy music and a curated selection of local artists.

The third installment in Sunset Sundays features the NWA Jazz All Star Youth Ensemble. The group just completed their 10th anniversary, bringing together the most gifted music students from 14 high schools in our region to form the Northwest Arkansas Jazz All Stars Youth Ensemble.

This performance was curated by the Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society.

We will look for some of the nocturnal creatures that call Petit Jean Mountain home. Please bring along a flashlight, water, and wear sturdy shoes. This program will last around 45 minutes.
