Cost: $15.00
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the boathouse parking area, and the first heats will begin racing at 8:30 a.m. The event is open to canoes, kayaks, or another human-powered watercraft. Rental canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats are available at the boathouse for a fee of $16 for single canoes and kayaks, $20 for tandem kayaks. There is a general race registration fee.
The event includes a short race, long race, beach ball relay, and lily pad pickup, as well as a special “just for kids” race. All participants are encouraged to theme their canoes and dress in themed apparel. Be a pirate, superhero, purple dinosaur, historical character, etc. Prizes will be awarded for the best theme and costumes. Awards and recognition are at 11 a.m. This event is a partnership event with the Petit Jean Extension Homemakers Club (PJEHC) and Petit Jean State Park. Flatwater kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are provided. No previous paddling experience is necessary. A park interpreter will demonstrate the basics of kayaking and answer questions along the way. Participants must be at least 14 years old to paddle solo. Children under 6 are not permitted. Space is limited, and reservations are required. Contact the marina for reservations and payment. Wear clothes/shoes that can get wet. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and water are highly recommended. This activity is dependent on weather and lake conditions.

CAUTION- this hiking trail visits very high cliffs with no railing, so children and pets must be highly supervised by legal guardians at all times.
