There are some great adventures up this weekend!

Another scorcher of a summer weekend is on the way in the Natural State! Friday's calling for a hot 98 degrees, but things cool off nicely into the 80s and low 90s for Saturday and Sunday… perfect for getting outside (or ducking into some great air-conditioned spots). From live music on Mount Sequoyah and a downtown Hot Springs auction to a Back to School Bash in Russellville, a cars-and-coffee meetup, state park hikes, and a comic book pop-up in Batesville, there's truly something for everyone this weekend.

Grab your sunscreen (or your sunglasses for that AC-cooled museum trip), and check out our full roundup of what's happening across Arkansas! As always, we recommend checking with the venue before heading out to an event to make sure nothing has changed.

If you know of any events we should add to this or future editions of “This Weekend in Arkansas”, let us know! In the meantime, we have selected a few of our favorite events for the weekend! Here is our guide to what’s happening this weekend in Arkansas!

If you decide to join any of these events, be sure to mention that Live Love Arkansas sent you!

Simply click the red text(or the photo) to see more details about each event.

However you choose to spend your weekend, we wish you a fantastic one!

NOTE: As always, we do our best to bring you accurate information… however, we encourage you to reach out to event venues to confirm before you head out to an advertised event!

Arkansas River Chapter 36th Anniversary Cruise: Get Your Kicks on Route 66!

408 1st Ave SE, Gravette, AR

Celebrating 36 Years of Friendship on the Mother Road's 100th Anniversary!

Life is a Highway... Let's Cruise It Together!

This year is extra special! Not only are we celebrating the Arkansas River Chapter's 36th Anniversary, but Historic Route 66—The Mother Road—is celebrating its 100th Anniversary! What better way to celebrate than taking a scenic back-road cruise with our Pontiac family to Galena, Kansas, one of the communities that inspired Disney•Pixar's Cars?

Galena is packed with Route 66 history, vintage charm, and several locations that inspired characters and scenes from the movie. It's the perfect destination for a fun day of cruising, great food, and making memories together.

Rain or Shine!

This cruise is RAIN OR SHINE! Arkansas weather can be unpredictable, but we're planning to hit the road regardless. Keep an eye on the forecast and dress accordingly.

We'd love to see as many Pontiacs and GMCs on this cruise as possible, but we also understand that August in Arkansas can be hot—and not everyone wants to put 140+ miles on their classic.

Don't let that keep you from joining us!

If your Pontiac or GMC is staying in the garage that day, hop in your daily driver and come along anyway. This cruise is about spending time together, celebrating our chapter, and making memories—not about being brand snobs or worrying about what you're driving. We'd much rather have you there than your car sitting at home!

Saturday, August 1
Meeting Information

Meet: Casey's General Store
408 1st Ave SE
Gravette, AR 72736

Meet Time: 10:30 AM
Departure: Between 10:45–11:00 AM

When you arrive, go ahead and top off your fuel tank, grab your favorite drink and snacks, and get ready to hit the road... because Life is a Highway!

The Cruise

We'll enjoy approximately 70 miles of scenic back roads with about a 1 hour and 25 minute drive before arriving in Galena.

Our first stop will be Mi Torito Mexican Restaurant, where we'll enjoy lunch together before exploring everything Galena has to offer. After lunch, we'll cruise around town, visit the Route 66 attractions, check out the Cars-inspired sights, and, of course, take advantage of every photo opportunity we can find!

Drive What You've Got!

We'd love to see as many Pontiacs and GMCs on this cruise as possible, but we also understand that August in Arkansas can be hot, and not everyone wants to put 140+ miles on their classic.

Reservations Required

If you plan to attend, please let Richie know how many people will be in your group.

We need an accurate headcount so restaurant reservations can be made and we can ensure everyone has a seat together.

Members are responsible for purchasing their own meals and beverages.

Life is a Highway...

Whether you're behind the wheel of your favorite Pontiac, your GMC, or your everyday ride, the destination is only part of the adventure. The real reason we're cruising is to celebrate 36 years of friendship, fellowship, and our shared passion for the hobby.

So grab your keys, bring your camera, and join your Arkansas River Chapter family as we celebrate our anniversary on the Mother Road.

We can't wait to cruise with you!
