Die of the Month: Arkansas Traveler (Taught by Eileen Thompson)

Online

Die of the Month: Arkansas Traveler

Sunday, January 25th, 2-5:00 p.m. Eastern time.

There has been interest in the Arkansas Traveler. A number of folks informed me they needed support when removing the cellophane. So, I'm guessing a class with directions on how to use the die will be helpful. What a great way to start the new year!

This is another die that brings us creative possibilities. We will look at inspirational patterns and imagine some of our own. We will examine what secondary patterns emerge when the block is used repeatedly. We will brainstorm about how this block could interact with other BOB dies to breathe life into a novel quilt.

Class Fee: $35.00

Speak Up for the Preborn in Arkansas

Family Christian Fellowship

Can you defend life graciously, or do you sometimes speak rashly and give offense? Do you assume all those who call themselves Christians are fully opposed to legal abortion? In a world full of doubt and tough questions about abortion, we must prepare ourselves to “know how we ought to answer each person” (Col. 4:6).

Join United for Life Director John Michener for an interactive apologetics workshop that will train participants to:

• Create gracious and persuasive conversation about abortion in church gatherings, with outsiders, and on social media.
• Make a biblical, moral, biological, and philosophical case for life.
• Answer the toughest arguments of abortion advocates such as, “It’s my body, so it’s my choice” and “I know abortion is wrong, but we can’t tell other people what to do.”
• Share their faith in every conversation about abortion.

Let us help you become effective at speaking up for our preborn neighbors. Dinner to follow.

“From the first minute of class, my students were captivated and engaged… They were being equipped to discern, expose, and discuss false ideas and justifications for abortion. The handouts, videos, images, and stories helped the students get the most out of this critical topic in a short amount of time. Mr. Michener also took time to respectfully answer various questions that were on the minds of my students…” -Phillip Rehrig, philosophy & Bible teacher

Community Candlelight Vigil

Fayetteville, AR

University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in the Gearhart Auditorium Room 026 and Greek Theater (weather permitting)

Dear Friends,

2025 was a rough year for our country and our local communities. Unfortunately, the first 2 weeks of this year seem to be keeping pace. ICE continues its acts of domestic terrorism with abductions, ripping families apart, and gun violence. Groups are strategically spreading division and fear in our schools and churches. Meanwhile, we continue to see fellow community members' lives being taken by gun violence in our state. For every life that is taken, there is a community of people who are impacted. This realization is heavy and at times paralyzing, but it is important that we recognize the lives that are being affected, and to remember why we do this work.
Please join us on January 25th as we honor and hold space for the hundreds of Arkansans who were impacted by gun violence last year.
Let us begin 2026 by setting aside a time to collectively pause and acknowledge the healing, change, and power we cultivate when we come together to make our communities safer.
Sunday, January 25 4-6pm Gearhart Auditorium at the U of A.

In light of the shooting hoax and lockdown last August, the University of Arkansas campus serves as a meaningful location for this vigil.
