Central Arkansas Bonsai Meeting January 2026
Bob's Note:
The first 2026 meeting of the Central Arkansas Bonsai society will be held on Saturday, January 10th. We will meet from meet from 9a till 1p at the Amy Sanders library in Sherwood.
*******************************
This year, thanks to Flo's efforts we will also have an hour extra before the meeting for setting up tables and an additional hour for clean up and taking down the tables. Essentially, we will have the room from 9a till 2p. This will also help out if we need a little extra time for one off our presenters.
*******************************
Every January we elect our club officers. If you are interested in a position let us know. So far Kyle Hartwick is the only candidate for president. (Dustin has stepped down after many years) The floor is open for the vice president post.
*******************************
We are also looking for suggestions for subjects for presentations. So far, Dana Quattlebaum has volunteered to do a tree demonstration, and Larry Totton has offered to talk about Eastern Red cedars as great a great bonsai material. Bring along your suggestions for any presentations you'd like to see/hear.
*******************************
There was some talk last year about using the critique table more often. What do you think?
*******************************
January is a good time to prune your trees and to make plans for spring. So, bring a tree or two to work on. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. Have a Very Merry Christmas and enjoy the new year. Take care, be well, and keep the green side up.
Bob
*******************************
*******************************
Wally's Note:
Probably like everyone else, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things BONSAI and anxiously awaiting SPRING.
*******************************
Adding to what Bob said about the Club Officers. Kyle is unopposed for President right now, so if you are interested that position...let it be known at the beginning of the meeting (contact Kyle, me or Bob). However there are 2 other positions available...We need a Vice President to assist whoever the President may be, and also media person (doing the stuff I do). If you're interested in any of these positions (none of them are truly time consuming), then let us know.
*******************************
I will be taking orders for T-shirts in either January or February. We can use the same logo we have or, we can choose another. If you are interested in a shirt...let me know. I'm going to try and keep the cost around $20 depending on what design or style we choose.
OK...that's it. See you all in January... Wally
