Arkansas in Song: A Place, its People and the Attraction of Musical Identity

141 Cherry St, Helena, AR

Grand Opening
Arkansas in Song: A Place, its People and the Attraction of Musical Identity

In Arkansas, we take pride in Johnny Cash, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Jimmy Driftwood, Al Green, Louis Jordan, Levon Helm and many more musicians. We bask in their accomplishments, mourn their tragedies, and are even embarrassed by their shortcomings. The character of these singers becomes a part of how we define ourselves. In them, we hear our own voice. They become a rhythmic aspect beating in the hearts of their fellow Arkansans.

Join the staff of the Delta Cultural Center in the grand opening of our latest exhibition celebrating the musical legacy of Arkansas. This unique exhibit will open on March 20 and run through November 21, 2026.

It is located in the central gallery of the DCC Visitor Center in historic Helena-West Helena, Arkansas.

There will be food and entertainment provided. Also, follow us on social media for future programs associated with this exhibition.

For more information, please contact the DCC at 870-338-4350 or email info@deltaculturalcenter.com.

WA Arena

The Arkansas Farm Bureau Foundation No Bling Spring Fling will feature AQHA and All-Breed classes as well as Ride-the-Pattern clinics at the WA Arena in Sheridan, AR, on March 20-22, 2026. Since its inception, the No Bling Spring Fling has been a welcoming show to exhibitors of all levels, from first-time exhibitors to world show competitors and to horses of all breeds. The show has halter, western, english, ranch, and speed events for AQHA Level 1 Youth, Youth, Level 1 Amateur, Amateur, and Open divisions, as well as All-Breed Small Fry Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot 11 & Over, and a regular walk-trot-lope All-Breed division.

Ride-the-Pattern clinics will take place on Friday and Saturday evening to go over patterns for the next day's classes. The professional horseman will break down the patterns, explain how the judges score individual manuevers and help exhibitors to understand how to score higher in the class.

The show will feature the new $40 for 4-H special pricing sponsored by the Arkansas Farm Bureau Foundation. This special pricing allows current 4-H members to compete at the show for a $40 flat fee (regularly $270). Students will receive instruction on the process of making raku pottery, prepare, and glaze their selected pottery pieces on Day 1. Spring Meet the Makers!

10409 Highway 70, North Little Rock, AR

Spring Meet the Makers at Me & McGee Market

We’re hosting our Spring Meet the Makers event at Me & McGee Market — a day where the farmers, bakers, and artisans behind the food spend time with the families and community who support them.

Too often food becomes anonymous.
You grab something off a shelf and never know the story behind it.

This day is the opposite of that.

The people who raise the animals, grow the food, bake the bread, harvest the honey, roast the coffee, and craft the goods will be here at the market, setting up tables, offering samples, answering questions, and visiting with everyone who makes this local food community possible.

This is the hub we talk about — where farmers, makers, and families connect and where a resilient local food system begins to take shape.

Confirmed Makers Joining Us

• Wilson Farms — Raw milk | Heber Springs, Arkansas
• Circle K Farms — Pork, beef, lamb, and goat milk | Ozark, Arkansas
• Ralston Family Farms — Arkansas-grown rice | Atkins, Arkansas

The Gardener & The Cook: Spring Backyard Foraging & Planting Annual Herbs Class

Ozark Folk Center State Park
1032 Park Avenue, Mountain View, AR

Meeting Place: Visitor Center Lobby

All Admission: $158.76

This springtime class is about identifying and harvesting the useful weeds and planting annual herbs. Determined gardener, Tina Marie, often feeds the compost pile instead of making use of the abundant seasonal weeds and early prunings that she extracts. On the other hand, Susan is a practical cook, who is always thinking of ways to use the harvest, bringing it into the kitchen to preserve in many ways.

In this practical, matter-of-fact, and fun class, this dynamic duo will discuss what is actually happening in the garden this time of year—spring weed allies and perpetual patches. Students learn how to identify weeds that are actually herbs and then utilize the harvest. They will share their favorite annual herbs that they plant every spring.

Class fee includes materials and use of tools during class. You will need to bring the following items to attend this class: gathering basket, pruners, chef and paring knife, go-cup or jar for a beverage.

Instructors will give practical tips as well as hands-on guidance on: the best ways to sow annual seeds in containers and the garden earth, how to preserve seasonal weeds from drying and freezing to infusing them to capture their essence in vinegar, honey, oil, and tincture. Each student will go home with the knowledge of how to sow annuals and when to harvest, how to keep the harvest fresh until it gets to the kitchen, and how to make infusions for the kitchen and apothecary. Everyone will take home herbs and infusions that they create in class. Space is limited.

Class minimum is 4 and maximum is 10. Registration is required. Go to https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/ozarkfolkcenter/the-gardener-the-cook-spring-backyard-foraging-planting-annual-herbs to sign up or for more information.

Up to one month before the start of class, full refunds will be given upon request. Students requesting a refund between a month and two weeks before the beginning of class will receive a 50% refund. No refunds within two weeks of class date.

Looking for a place to stay while you learn? The Cabins at Dry Creek offer comfortable lodging just down the hill from your workshop with a discount for Folk School students staying three or more days. Call 870-269-0861 for room information or to make reservations.
